Oktoberfest, the world’s largest beer celebration, is hitting the Philippines this September and October. Get yourself ready for a 12-hour long booze and music festival.
For over 78 years, Filipinos have celebrated this Bavarian beer festival experience with legendary bands, Party DJs, and tons of talented performers who fill the air with rock and rave while everyone enjoys unlimited ales and lagers! The leading Filipino beer brand, San Miguel, will spearhead the festival in different parts of the country. A weekly beer fest will start on September 16, raining beer and music for all party goers.
The first leg of Oktoberfest 2016 will hit Metrowalk in Pasig City on September 16 featuring The Dawn, Gracenote, and Rocksteddy.

For a rather traditional and near-authentic Oktoberfest experience, the German Club Manila will celebrate the occasion on October 7 at Sofitel Manila. The entire staff will don the traditional German apron and serve german sausages, beer, music and a lot more to make the festivities seem closer to a Bavarian celebration. The festival starts at 4 pm and ends on October 8 at CCP Complex Roxas Boulevard, Pasay.
While Oktoberfest is a beer festival, it doesn’t give anyone a license to go wild. Responsible partying is always the best way to have fun. M2Comms has some tips for you on how to stay safe while enjoying the parties – plus ways to get yourself home sober.
Tips for Partying Safely
Never go wrong with these practical tips for celebrating Oktoberfest 2016:
- Always inform a family member where you are going, and with whom.
- Keep your smartphone fully charged and loaded.
- Always bring separate cash in case of emergency.
- Party with people you trust. And look after each other.
- Don’t take drinks from a stranger.
- Avoid party drugs. Inform the authorities if you witness someone using or selling it.
- Plan ahead how you are going home. As always, never drive home drunk.
To go home sober after the beer festival
- Drink alcohol moderately. Know your body and know up to how many bottles you can take. And never drink beyond how much you can handle.
- Have a bite before drinking booze. Make sure that your stomach is not empty as the body takes longer to flush out alcohol with an empty stomach.
If you are all for live music and booze, or a more Bavarian celebration, take note of the above dates. For more information, visit the San Miguel Oktoberfest Facebook page here and the German Club Manila event’s page.
